Issues:
Listserv/Google group: just to let everyone know that we have sent invitations to join our google group, it is mostly a means of sending out mass emails. Most of our information will be posted on facebook, so check there first for information. If you haven’t joined our google group, email us back at tawexec@gmail.com under the subject of “google group” and we will add you. There were many people we sent emails out that haven’t been responded to, so check you inboxes and your spam first.
Meetings:
A lot of people have said that meeting dates are inconvenient and were wondering if we could change. Currently meetings are held on Thursday from 5-6pm. The only other times we have available are Thursday from 6-7 or 7-8. Remember that winter is coming and that it is getting dark so the earlier we can hold meetings the better. A discussion forum is on Facebook where everyone can discuss the issue. Please do not email the group back to discuss it, only on our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=112421633679&ref=ts).
Upcoming Events:
THIS FRIDAY – September 25, 2009: we will host a shelter visit to the Washington DC Animal Shelter, signups are on Facebook and only around 10 people can attend. Timing is not set yet as there will be a Facebook discussion on what time the most people will be available to go, the shelter closes at 8pm so the earlier the better. This is a service activity, which is part of our mission statement, so we would like to have all available spots filled.
SATURDAY OCT. 10 – 4th annual Walk for the Animals: We are partnering up with the Washington DC Animal Shelter for the Walk for Animals event, which fundraiser to help end pet homelessness by providing for adoption, spay/neuter, and humane education efforts of the Washington Humane Society (WHS) and The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS). We need with managing the kids zone and to help set, break down, lead different stations. We would like to get volunteers to sign up to come in different block periods. Block periods are: from 9am to11:30am, from 11am to 1:30pm, from 1pm to 2:30pm. We would like to have 5 to 10 people for each section and anyone want to stay longer than the 2 ½ period is more than welcome to. More information will be available soon.
